Time4Writing Help/FAQs

Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about the Time4Writing program.

How can Time4Writing benefit my student?

Elementary, middle, and high school students who take a writing course with Time4Writing receive targeted instruction designed to move them forward in their writing skills. Whether your student is an advanced writer who wants to challenge their writing limits, or a reluctant writer who needs the variety of an interactive online course, Time4Writing can help. Our eight-week courses on everything from sentence writing to essay writing can fill in any gaps your student may have, while our certified writing teachers provide encouraging feedback that keeps your child motivated to move to the next level in their writing proficiency.

How does Time4Writing work?

Time4Writing presents its courses in a virtual campus. Students have their own secure login to:

  • Access their online course
  • Complete a variety of writing assignments
  • Receive teacher feedback

Courses are divided into eight weekly units, each with a specific goal.

Students work through lessons and complete assignments in the sequence in which they appear. The teacher will grade and provide feedback on all writing assignments.

Parents are sent mid-course and end-of-course reports to help them track their student’s progress. At the end of the eight-week course, if all assignments are completed successfully, students receive a certificate of completion.

How do I get started?

It’s easy. Once you confirm that you have a computer/tablet, internet access, and eight consecutive weeks to complete the course, simply choose a course that targets the writing skill you want to see your child improve in, then sign up for enrollment. The course is available immediately after you register.

How much are the courses?

Each course is $119. This gives the student 24/7 access for eight consecutive weeks. Time4Writing offers a 14 day money-back guarantee on all courses.

Can I switch courses after I start?

Time4Writing offers a helpful assessment tool to assist you in choosing the right course for your child. In addition, your teacher can help you choose a different course within the first 14 days of registering.

When does my student work on his or her assignments?

Your student’s eight week course begins on the day of registration, so students are encouraged to begin their courses within a couple of days. During their eight-week enrollment, students can access their course any time of day. They log in on their own schedule, but it’s important to remember that the course is intended to be completed in eight weeks. If a student needs more than eight weeks to complete their course, they can do so by paying a nominal fee for an extension. We usually recommend that students sign in 3-4 times a week to complete their writing lessons, quizzes, and assignments.

Who is my student’s teacher and how does the teacher grade my child’s writing?

We’d love for you to meet our amazing team of certified writing teachers! Browse our teacher biography page to get a sense of the level of expertise and enthusiasm they each bring to their jobs. If you’d like to know exactly which teacher will be overseeing your chosen course, contact us with your inquiry. All writing assignments are reviewed by your student’s assigned teacher. Assignments will receive personalized feedback, and may be returned with suggestions for improvement.

When can a student expect teacher feedback on an assignment?

Teacher feedback follows a specific schedule. While students are waiting on feedback on writing assignments, they can continue with lessons and quizzes up to the next graded assignment. In general, the teacher feedback schedule can best be summed up with the following chart:

Time Submitted Feedback Turnaround Example
Monday 12:00 a.m ET – Thursday 11:59 p.m. ET Assignments will be returned no later than 24 hours from the day and time of submission Samantha sends in her assignment on Tuesday at 2:50 p.m. ET. She receives feedback from her teacher no later than Wednesday at 2:50 p.m. ET.
Friday 12:00 a.m. ET – Friday 11:59 p.m. Assignments will be returned on Monday, no later than 72 hours after submission. John sends in his assignment on Friday at 6:40 p.m. ET. He receives feedback from his teacher no later than Monday at 6:40 p.m. ET.
Saturday 12:00 a.m. ET – Sunday 11:59 p.m. Assignments will be returned on Tuesday, no later than 48 hours after submission. Patty sends in her assignment on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. ET. Because it is submitted over the weekend, the 24 hour feedback begins on Monday at 12:01 a.m. ET. Patty receives feedback from her teacher no later than Tuesday at 12:01 a.m. ET.

How do students communicate with the teacher?

All communication between student and teacher is done within the Time4Writing campus using an internal messaging system. Parents can view a copy of all messages inside the student login.

How do parents communicate with the teacher?

Parents can contact the teacher by email or the messaging system located within the parent login.

How much time will students need to complete a course?

Courses are all eight weeks long, and students have access to their course immediately after registration. Because each course is broken into week-long units, we recommend that students jump right into their coursework within a couple days of registration. Each course will require approximately 3-5 hours per week; but be aware that some courses, such as those involving research and essay writing, may necessitate a longer time commitment weekly. Course enrollment lasts a total of 63 consecutive days.

Can I finish a course in less than 8 weeks?

Each course includes eight units. Typically, one unit is completed per week. It is possible to complete the course in less than eight weeks when student assignments and teacher feedback are both concluded expeditiously. Suggested accelerated schedules can be found inside many of our courses.

Can I stop in the middle and restart the course later?

By using the dormancy feature, students can take a few weeks off (up to a month) from the course if needed for a vacation, unexpected events, or any other reasons. During dormancy, the student will be unable to access the course. Parents are notified at the end of the dormancy period, and the student may then resume their work at the spot where it was left. There is a nominal fee of $5.00 associated with this request, and only one dormancy may be requested during the student’s enrollment in the course.

How does Time4Writing work with teachers, schools, and school districts?

Time4Writing is flexible enough to accommodate schools in a variety of ways. Schools can use our program with or without our teachers. Often, schools prefer to use our online campus but use their own teachers. For more information, visit our schools page or inquire directly using our contact form.
